History

John’s Bluegrass Racing Company is the race management division of John’s Run/Walk Shop- Central Kentucky’s Running Store since 1978. Because the area was severely lacking in race opportunities, John’s Run/Walk Shop began the Iron Horse Half Marathon in 2010 out of a desire to offer customers a quality, local race. Over the years, the Central Kentucky race calendar has ballooned into an overly-crowded space, leaving runners guessing at what events will offer a quality race and enjoyable experience. Building off the success of the long-standing Iron Horse Half Marathon, John’s Bluegrass Racing Company was born out of a desire to produce top-notch races with consistent quality.
